Job Description: Estate & Trust Director

  • Proven role as an excellent manager for several years
  • Primary client contact (year-round) and running client meetings by themselves
  • Handle all types of billing with no guidance
  • Proactively manage due date list and holding Managers/Seniors/Staff responsible
  • Proactively mentor Seniors/Staff
  • Train, supervise, and provide timely feedback to all Managers/Seniors/Staff
  • Should only be reviewing estate tax, gift tax, and complex income tax returns
  • Proficient knowledge of GST tax and associated issues
  • Be able to do take lead on an asset allocation, marital deduction, and 6166 elections
  • Being able to take a step back and see the big picture
  • Identify planning opportunities or client exposures and lead the discussion
  • Provide Partner with a reviewed project with no review notes
  • Making sure all positions/exposures are documented, including items to be aware of in the future
  • Be able to make proper decisions on time spent on all projects
  • Identify projects to be delegated
  • Assist Partners on research, projects, planning
  • Be able to research a project and present in a memo (with support) the answer without help
  • Drafting/Consulting client proposals and project budgets
  • Identifying technical issues and resolve them (with Partner assistance as needed)
  • Signing any type of tax returns
  • Handle IRS audits with limited consulting from Partners
  • Participate in networking functions
  • Participate in being an advocate for the firm
  • Distinguish a personal reputation for excellence inside and outside the firm
  • Develop a niche to be a resource to inside and outside the firm
  • Participate in management meetings and making decisions regarding staff and process improvements

  • CPA JD or EA license required
