Marisa Alvarado is a senior partner in Wright Ford Young & Co.’s Tax Department. She has practiced more than 30+ years in public accounting, the last 20 specializing in tax planning and compliance for Ultra High Net Worth clients in the entertainment industry as well as closely held businesses and their owners, trusts, private foundations and not-for-profit entities.
Prior to joining Wright Ford Young & Co. to lead the firm’s Estates and Trusts specialists, Ms. Alvarado had a successful practice as the founder of Family Wealth & Tax Advisory Services. Her experience also includes both national firms such as RSM McGladrey where she lead the Advanced Estate & Gift Taxation practice for the southern California region, and was the national leader for the firms Technical Advisory Group for estate and gift tax specialists, and “Big 4” firms such as Personal Financial Planning at KPMG, LLP in Los Angeles.
Ms. Alvarado earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting at Loyola Marymount University and has also completed the curriculum for Personal Financial Planning designation from the University of California, Irvine. She has also completed coursework at the Notre Dame Tax and Estate Planning Institute and Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning at the University of Miami School of Law.
She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and is authorized to practice before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent.
Alvarado was on the Advisory Board for the California State University Fullerton Family Business Council and frequently attends the Orange County Estate Planning Council. She was involved with the Latin Business Association.
Marisa enjoys traveling, sports, skiing, baking, and of course – family gatherings.
