Cyndi LeBerthon, CPA
Cyndi joined Wright Ford Young & Co. in 2018 as a Partner in the Audit Department and currently serves as the Partner-in-Charge of the firm’s audit practice. In this leadership role, she oversees the management of the department and performance of audits, reviews, and compilations while ensuring compliance with the firm’s system of quality management. Cyndi also leads the firm’s peer review practice, providing oversight and guidance to CPA firms throughout California and Arizona.
Professional Experience
Cyndi began her career in public accounting in 2003, after spending 10 years in private industry. Her audit and assurance experience includes working with closely-held and family-owned companies as well as large international corporations. She believes that her clients should receive more value from an audit than simply a financial statement opinion and strives to provide practical recommendations that enhance processes, internal controls and operational efficiency. Her experience in private industry prior to entering public accounting enables her to bring a consultative approach to assurance engagements. Understanding business challenges from a client’s perspective allows her to provide practical, business-focused insights while delivering high-quality, independent assurance services. Her clients include those in manufacturing, distribution, construction, healthcare, professional service and private foundations.
Cyndi also has extensive experience in employee benefit plan audits, ERISA regulations, and the unique compliance issues affecting employee benefit plans. She emphasizes compliance with both plan provisions and ERISA regulations, and has audited 401(k), 403(b), ESOP, and Pension plans and has been a featured speaker at a variety of seminars, including the Western Pension & Benefits Council.
In addition, Cyndi has been performing peer reviews of other CPA firms for more than 15 years, and works with firms throughout California and Arizona to improve their audit and accounting practice.
Personal
Cyndi and her husband have been married since 1998 and enjoy spending time in wine country, exploring great restaurants, and cheering on the Angels at baseball games.
Cyndi is the former Chair of the Peer Review Committee of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is a current member of the Peer Review Committee and serves on its administrative committee. She is a past board member of the Orange County Compensation and Benefits Association. Through Wright Ford Young’s charitable giving program, Cyndi is involved in and remains an active contributor to numerous organizations throughout Orange County.
